NOTD: Time For Romance! Using Essence and NYC

Photo: Time for Romance Nail of the Day
Essence Time for Romance over NYC  Broadway Burgundy

I've been getting tired of my usual bright pink polishes, and sheer nudes just aren't doing it for me anymore.
I've been craving dark vampy nail polishes and lipsticks lately. So I went for my NYC Broadway Burgundy. If they had a nail polish the same color as MAC's Sophisto, then I would be all over it..if anyone knows of a color similar please tell me!! I put this color on my toes today too.
I was admiring it on my nails for a while and then decided to add a glitter top coat because NYC polishes chip very easily (the glitter makes it last longer), and tomorrow is my Birthday! So tonight my husband is taking me out for dinner and drinks, and I wanted to be a little more glamorous.

TAG Get To Know Me

I've seen a lot of these TAG videos on Youtube circulating around for a while now and I've always wanted to do one, and then Sam http://www.youtube.com/user/sr3411 did a Get to know me Tag so I thought that I should do one too!   I didn't do the same questions as her, but I did the same questions as Jasmine did on her blog Sweetaholic-beauty.com.

                             Get To Know Me!
1. Is there anything in life you would like to accomplish that you haven't yet?  I would like to travel around the world to different countries when my kids get older.
I would like to travel to Slovenia which is the country that my family came from, and I would like to meet my Slovene family whom I have never met.
2. One secret you don't mind sharing? I use conditioner to shave my legs, it keeps them silky smooth.
3. How do you like to relax? Just give me Mocha Almond Fudge ice-cream and Vampire Diaries or a cold hard drink and a movie.
4. What was your last major purchase? Makeup wise- MAC lipstick in Sophisto
5. What can you cook very well?  If you ask anybody in my family  they will probably tell you that my specialty is Goulash, a family favorite, but I think I bake desserts the best probably because it is my favorite and the most delicious :)
6. What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas, because that's when all the family comes over and we get to spend time together and who doesn't like presents?
7. What is one tv show that you really don't like? Survivor, Big brother, Dancing with the stars. I don't like those kind of shows really.
8. If given a million dollars, what is the first thing that you would do with it? I would buy a house for my family first. Then I would buy myself a car, because I don't really like sharing my husbands car. Then I would go on a shopping spree of course!
9. What kind of people do you like being around? Humble honest, real people.
10. What is your one embarrassing moment? Well  I embarrass myself all the time I am so clumsy, but I think it is safe to say my most embarrassing moment was at my first job. I worked at McDonald's and I had a bladder infection and it was lunch time, bad combo....I ended up peeing my pants because nobody would let me go to the bathroom. I went home early that day.
11. What is one makeup mistake that you used to make?  In High School I used foundation that was 3 times too dark for me because I didn't want to be so pale, and I used a crap load of bronzer and it made me look like a pumpkin. Now I'm scared of bronzer.
12. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you pick?  I will never stop eating desserts. Anything rich or chocolate. That reminds me I have cookies to put in the oven right now!
13. Have you got any tattoos?  Yes, I have 1 big one with butterflies and swirlies and sparkles that goes from my ankle to the bottom of my calf. Me and my sister have matching ones! :)
14. What is your one staple clothing item? I would say jeans....and t-shirts.
15. Do you have any bad habits? Any pet peeves? I have a bad habit of peeling my nails and picking at my face.  My biggest pet peeve is to hear or see anyone eat loudly, or sloppily. I can not stand it. I will freak out.
16. Do you think money is happiness? This one is tricky. I would say generally No. But to a certain extent yes, because then you wouldn't be worrying so much about how is the rent going to be paid or having money for groceries. Especially when you have kids.
17. Are you OCD about anything? Picking at my face. If I see or feel a bump on my face I have to pick at it. It's gross and I know that I shouldn't do it, but I can't help it.
18. Have you ever been abroad? I have never traveled outside of the country no, but I know I will go to Mexico someday because that is where my husband's family comes from.
19. Do yo speak any foreign languages? Spanish and some "indigenous mountain" words here and there.
20. What is your favorite color of nail polish? That's easy, PINK!
21. If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be and why?
Kate Middleton, even if it is topless! Every girl has that princess fairy tale fantasy.
22. How tall are you? 5'6"
23. Are you religious? I am baptized as a Catholic, but I was not raised as one. I do not go to church every Sunday, but I do have the same beliefs.
24. Cheapest makeup product you own? Everything! lol no, but I have a lot of cheap makeup. The cheapest thing is probably $1 Elf clear brow gel. I love that stuff.
25. If you were to dye your hair what would color would it be? I usually dye my hair deep burgandy because I naturally have dark hair, but I always have wondered what I would look like as a blonde. My Mom is blonde, and half my family are too.
26. What are you wearing right now? Forever 21 jeans and a VS PINK tee.
27. Last thing you ate? I made spaghetti and garlic bread. Mmmm....

28. Who are you closer to, Mom or Dad? My Dad, I'm a total Daddy's girl.
29. What do you think is the coolest accent? English! Love you Sam! :)

I Tag everyone who would like to do this!
If you do this Tag please comment with a link!
I would love to see yours!

Pacifica Waikiki Pikake and Indian Coconut Nectar solid perfumes

For my post on Pacifica's Hawaiian Ruby Guava solid perfume, I contacted Pacifica making sure that it was okay for me to post a picture of  Brooke the founder.  Of course Nikki e-mailed me   back letting me know that it was fine and that she would love to see it when I was finished. So, after seeing my post she wanted to send me the two other scents that I had mentioned were going to be my next purchases from them.   Who could say no to that?!  I was thrilled!   These scents are amazing! I can't get enough of them!
I practically want to buy the whole collection on the site! But I'm sure my husband wouldn't be to happy about that after what he found left in our bank account haha! I love them! I'm going back for more baby! :)
Thank you so much Nikki from Pacifica for sending me these wonderful perfumes, it was so nice of you!

Photo: Thank you Nikki @Pacifica for my luscious solid perfumes! Blog post coming soon!
Indian Coconut Nectar and Waikiki Pikake

Indian Coconut Nectar is my favorite so far. It smells like heaven!
It is my dream scent!  Vanilla and coconut are my two favorite perfume scents.
Combined I almost faint every time I get a whiff,  it's so good!

Indian Coconut Nectar

Here is how Pacifica describes the scent-
Indian Coconut Nectar is a warm blend of sultry fresh coconut,
                                         delicate vanilla, and creamy Vetiver.
It is said that coconut water comes straight from the ocean.
Pacifica's Indian Coconut Nectar is an ambrosial and sensuous blend
inspired by travels to faraway destinations. Perfect for sexy, sultry and
                                         lusciously scented skin.

I wanted to try Waikiki Pikake because my Mom uses Pikake perfume and
a shimmery Pikake lotion that I loved! I used to steal some from her
counter all the time! hehe   Pacifica's solid perfume has a sweet, warm scent that is so good.

Waikiki Pikake

This is how Pacifica describes it-
This blend of delicate sweet Hawaiian Jasmine and sensuous velvety sandalwood is                             tribute to old Hawaii in honor of beloved Princess Kaiulani. In Hawaiian, pikake means both peacock and jasmine. The pikake flower was named by Hawaii's beloved Princess Kaiulani, who adorned herself in necklaces of the sweetly scented white flowers and compared it's exotic beauty to the peacocks that roamed her garden.

MAC Sophisto

MAC Sophisto

Photo: Thank you FedEx!

swatches

I bought my first MAC lipstick!  Well okay,  my husband bought it for me.
This lipstick is like my new baby, I love it so much! Now I want to try more!
Sophisto is a Lustre finish. It is a berry shade with a fine gold shimmer to it. Perfect for Fall!
Here are some pictures that I took of myself with it on. I warn you that I am not good at taking
pictures of  myself, especially when I can not see myself in the frame of my camera.
From these angles I look like a hoity-toity B**** in my opinion, which I am not!
This shade looks scary in the tube, but when applied it comes off  more sheer.
I should have applied it more heavily for the pictures so you can see the true color, because it is buildable.

On my lips- MAC Sophisto

On my face:
Maybelline  Dream Matte Mousse foundation
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind under-eye concealer

An up-close of my face Ah Scary!
Is that extra powder on my nose?
It's not Halloween just yet Kirstie! :)

Pacifica Hawaiian Ruby Guava Solid Perfume Review

pink beach
When I went back home to Oregon to visit we went to Seaside Beach and while shopping I came across a little boutique with the cutest things. I came out of the store with a new found love. Pacifica  solid perfume.
I love the exotic fruity scent and I love how I can keep it in my purse for on the go. Especially in the car, where I can easily whip it out and not worry about spraying  perfume and having my husband and kids choke on the strong scents.
They also have  lotions, soaps, body washes and scrubs,  lip balms, candles, and reed diffusers.
They come in 23 different fragrances including florals, fruits, woods & resins, and herbs & spices.
Including Waikiki Pikake and Indian Coconut Nectar, which I also lusted after and will be my next
purchases from them. You can find them in some Sephora's, Whole Foods stores, and online at Ulta.com,
Sephora.com or  at  PacificaPerfume.com

NOTD Sally Hansen Magnetic

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color in Ionic Indigo  Photo: NOTD Sally Hansen Magnetic Pinksparklz.blogspot.com
This was my first magnetic polish and I really liked it! It was sent to me by Influenster.com! I just wish I got one of the purple colors, I don't really care for blue nail polish. But it looks really cool! It looks 3D! Sorry it's so sloppy, this was my first time trying magnetic polish and I kept on touching the magnet to my nails! I really suck at doing my nails :(

Have you ever tried a                     magnetic nail polish?
    How did you like it?

Birthday Haul!!!

So I'm back in town in my new cozy little apartment, and I finally feel like we're starting to get settled in.
When we first moved in, I felt like I was in a hotel. It was weird. I had a lot of fun in Oregon though, visiting my family. These are some of the things I brought back with me...

From Top to Bottom, here goes.....Revlon Lipstick , Covergirl Lipstick , Milani  blush,
DKNY Be Delicious Perfume,  O.P.I polish,   Zoya Polish,  MAC eye shadow,
MAC MSF, Tarte Blush, Tarte LipSurgence, and Tarte Lipgloss. I also picked up a pair of Guess sandals that I have been wearing a lot and I didn't get the chance to take a picture of them new, since I started wearing them right away when I got them. I thought you would be grossed out if I took a picture of them now and posted it! lol
